## **Can't Pay Your Fine?**

Debt is a nasty old affair.  No one wants to be in debt in a world where credit is discouraged and frowned upon.   Sometimes there is no way out of it; and you will incur debt through choice, or otherwise.  When this happens you will receive a **Debtors Debuff**.   This puts a stink on your reputation and has some pretty significant consequences.

## **The Consequences**

Being a debtor has consequences.  Refusing to pay that debt is far worse, and this incurs the **Debtors Debuff**.   This puts a stink on that gleaming reputation of yours can have significant repercussions for the aspiring space commander.

\&#xNAN;*No one wants to be associated with those who wear the **Debtors Debuff**.   For this reason, many contacts, factional vendors, rewards, and other content will be unavailable until you have been cleared of this shameful mark.    Sometimes; even once removed, some NPCs and their services may continue to be unavailable to you until you've regained their trust.*

\&#xNAN;*There are always people who are happy to make a quick profit out of your misfortunes.   Being in debt to a creditor comes with interest.  These interest rates are scandalous enough, but when the rates are far higher if you incur the **Debtors Debuff**.*
