What are NFTs and why do we need them?

There are a number of NFT types that are used in Space Guardians. This section aims to explain in detail what each of the NFT do, how you can acquire them, and what you can do with them once they are acquired. These NFTs can be separated into 3 categories. UTILITY, VANITY and SOCIAL.

Utility NFT

For an NFT to be deemed a UTILITY NFT, it must have some function within DEFVERSE or any of it's associated games. During these examples we will refer to the utility within the Space Guardians game specifically, but current and future NFTs alike, may have utility in a range of other games that are planned to be released on our platform, both directly by DEFVERSE and via 3rd Party Developers.

Listed below are some of the benefits of owning a Utility NFT in Space Guardians.

THE BENEFITS OF OWNING UTILITY NFTs vs IN-GAME CRAFTED ITEMS

There are a host of benefits to owning a Weapon / Utility Mod NFT, over just crafting them in-game. These include but are not limited to:

  • NO EXPIRY All of the items that are crafted in-game with resources have a defined expiry time. Upon first use of these items, their lifetime countdown begins. This allows our free to play players to still craft, create, and trade without the need to invest financially into the game. All of our Utility NFTs have NO EXPIRY except the Platform NFTs which offer Play For Rewards eligibility for one season only.

  • NO LIMIT TRADING Another bonus to Weapons NFTs is that they are not restricted to any number of trades. Unlike their crafted variants, which have a 1-trade policy attached to them. Sometimes, this may all you really need, but if you like to try out different weapons, perhaps you want to trade with your friends, or supply your scholars with an armoury fit for a Galactic God, then owning Weapons NFTs is by far, the best way to go about it.

  • BETTER STATS We aim to make the game as fair to our Free To Play players as possible, however, one of the main differences you will find is that the randomised stats on the Utility NFT cards are more advantageous than those of the crafted type. For example, the minimum and maximum stat values are raised. They are still random, but the lowest value you can get has been raised, and the highest too, meaning you gain 20% better ranges than their crafted in-game variants. For example, weapons in Space Guardians have a variety of attributes which include:

    • Damage

    • Fire Rate

    • Elemental Modifiers

    • Core Power

    • and more....

Using a Weapons NFT for example the table below shows the potential difference for stat randomisation between a Weapons NFT and it's crafted in-game variant.

We can see from the chart above that the minimum randomised damage for this weapon when crafted is 150, however, it is 180 when compared to it's NFT counterpart. Giving you a 20% increase in base stats. The same applied to the upper bounds, the crafted version having the maximum damage output of 250 opposed to its NFT counterparts value of 300. Sometimes every little helps, and having access to better randomised stat chances can make your NFT become extremely valuable to players seeking to min-max, or needing that little extra bit oomph in that boss fight they keep failing.

Core Power is also a very interesting stat here. Without enough core power available, when you collect that power up, you won't be able to activate the weapon you collected until some of your core power is freed up. This could be achieved by waiting for another weapon to stop firing before you can bring this one online, or dropping your shields temporarily to activate your weapon, leaving you a sitting duck for all those pesky minions who just love to weaken you with their pathetic little potato guns.

Vanity NFT

Vanity NFT in DEFVERSE are cards that do not add anything in terms of utility to your account, only bonus aesthetics, titles, banners, awards, and achievements etc.

These NFT cannot be bought and are generally obtained via giveaways, promotions, seasonal victory's (tournaments, league and leader board placements). These cards may be tradeable but will likely have more personal value than financial. Some of these cards will be required to fill sets and therefore may still hold some monetary value to the right buyer.

These vanity NFTs are also attached to skins that may be bought/sold in-game through trading of them.

Social NFT

Social NFT are related to the use of services and awards deriving from clan/guild related activity, scholarships, and privately hosted events (in partnership with DEFVERSE).

These NFT may be bought as a perishable token to access certain social services within the game including clan expansion, tournament host services, official partnership tokens (untradeable), and more...
