# Carrier Maintenance

### Galactic Carrier Tax

There are small operational costs that must be paid weekly to maintain your fleet carrier.  These taxes are paid in [<mark style="color:blue;">**Fleet Token**</mark>](/defverse-nft/sg/the-financial-stuff/payment-options/soft-currency.md) and vary in cost depending on your member capacity.  Failure to pay these costs will result in your fleet carrier becoming impounded by the [**GEA** ](/defverse-nft/sg/game-design/the-justice-system.md)(Galactic Enforcement Agency).   While impounded your fleet carrier will incur further costs.  If these charges are not paid within 1 week of being impounded, the carrier will be destroyed and salvaged by the [**GEA**](/defverse-nft/sg/game-design/the-justice-system.md). &#x20;

No refunds will be given and the carrier will need to be crafted again; however, all abilities and fleet progress will still be maintained until the end of the season.

### Repairs

During the course of battle your fleet carrier may take damage.  Fleet carriers can be attacked by small player ships but are extremely resilient to these attacks; however, they are susceptible to damage from other fleet carriers and their weaponry. &#x20;

Fleet carriers can equipped with skills which can support their field units, significantly strengthen their commanders abilities, coat the battle field with a barrage of attacks, and even fire fleet weaponry at another fleet vessel. &#x20;

It is super important that you prepare yourself well and ensure your fleet carrier is well maintained.  If you enter battle and your fleet carrier is destroyed, you will immediately lose that battle AND it's territory, regardless of the number of defensive control points the territory currently owns.
