# Evolution Power

Space Guardians has a 4-Stage evolution system which offers significant power ups and access to bonus loot drops and access to the players [**Ultimate Ability**](https://defverse.gitbook.io/defverse-nft/sg/game-design/the-weapons-system/ultimate-abilities). &#x20;

## Earning Evolution Power

Players can build up the evolution meter by collecting **Evolution Power**, which can be gained in a variety of ways as listed below.

* **Damage Evasion**\
  Player survives long periods of time in combat without sustaining significant damage
* **Evolution Power Pickups**\
  Player collects power ups that randomly spawn during gameplay
* **In-Play Events**\
  Completing randomly generated tasks during gameplay, examples may include:
  * <mark style="color:blue;">**RAMPAGE**</mark>\
    \&#xNAN;*Kill 100 enemies in 1 minute*
  * <mark style="color:blue;">**ASSASINATION**</mark>\
    \&#xNAN;*Kill mini-boss 'Malevolent Anomoly" before the time elapses*
  * <mark style="color:blue;">**HIT LIST**</mark>\
    \&#xNAN;*Kill enemies in the following order:*
    * <mark style="color:orange;">Space Goblin x 5</mark>
    * <mark style="color:red;">Space Ghoul x 5</mark>
    * <mark style="color:purple;">Cosmic Vampire x 10</mark>
  * <mark style="color:blue;">**EVASIVE MANUOEVRES**</mark> \
    \&#xNAN;*Avoid all incoming damage for the next 20 seconds*
  * <mark style="color:blue;">**PRIORITY ONE**</mark>\
    \&#xNAN;*Locate and kill '**Borrassian Frigate**' without killing anything else before the timer elapses*

**Evolution Power** is lost when you take damage or fail to complete in-play challenges.  If you sustain significant damage, the evolution bar will be fully depleted and you will have to build it up again.

## Using Evolution Power

Sometimes you're gonna need some <mark style="color:orange;">**BIG DAMAGE**</mark>.  This is a perfect time to activate <mark style="color:purple;">**Evolution**</mark>.  Your ship will use the **Evolution Power** stored in your evolution meter which will grant you a temporary bonus to your base stats until the meter is depleted.   You may also activate your [**Ultimate Ability**](https://defverse.gitbook.io/defverse-nft/sg/game-design/the-weapons-system/ultimate-abilities) at this time, which will consume between **1-3 bars** of **Evolution Power** depending on the [**Ultimate Ability**](https://defverse.gitbook.io/defverse-nft/sg/game-design/the-weapons-system/ultimate-abilities) you have equipped.

Timing is EVERYTHING.   Do not activate this too soon, as once activated, you cannot stop it, and once your meter is fully depleted, there will be a short period of time before the meter can begin to gain charge again.   Any pickups collected during this period will have no effect.

* <mark style="color:green;">**EVOLUTION STAGE 1**</mark>\
  Ship glows slightly.  +25% Damage Output, HP, Shields and Resistances&#x20;
* <mark style="color:blue;">**EVOLUTION STAGE 2**</mark>\
  Ship glows moderately.  +50% Damage Output, HP, Shields and Resistances&#x20;
* <mark style="color:orange;">**EVOLUTION STAGE 3**</mark>\
  Ship glows prominently.  +75% Damage Output, HP, Shields and Resistances&#x20;
* <mark style="color:red;">**EVOLUTION STAGE 4**</mark>\
  Ship glows with super cosmic glory.  +100% Damage Output, HP, Shields and Resistances&#x20;
